As a result, suction is much more difficult to achieve with lower dentures due to the tongue and surrounding muscle attachments acting as competing forces against the dental prosthesis by constantly moving in many different directions. Thankfully the added retention provided by clasped teeth can help partial lower dentures stay in place by resisting those competing forces.
